European email, actually in Europe

Why "hosted in the EU" is not enough

Most big mail providers will happily tell you your data is stored in a European data centre. What matters legally is something else: who controls the company.

For US-headquartered providers, American law may in some circumstances be relevant even when data is stored in a European data centre. Data location and company ownership are therefore two separate questions worth asking.

Postsky is owned and operated by Garbæk IT, a Danish sole proprietorship (CVR 21 66 44 80), with mail data hosted on infrastructure in Europe. Your service relationship is with a Danish company operating under Danish and European data-protection law.

The honest fine print: no email provider can promise you absolute immunity from lawful requests — but with us, any request goes through Danish and EU law, not a foreign statute you never agreed to.

What you get

A complete, portable email identity — not just an inbox.

No ads, no profiling

We make money from subscriptions, not from reading your mail. Nothing is scanned for advertising or AI training — your correspondence is yours.

Open standards, no lock-in

IMAP, SMTP, CalDAV and CardDAV — your mail, calendar and contacts work with any standard client, and can be exported and taken elsewhere at any time.

A person, not a queue

Support is a real human who runs the system, reachable at support@garbaek.it. When did a big provider last answer you personally?

Frequently asked questions

Short and honest.

Can I move my existing mail here?

Yes — a built-in import tool copies your mail from Gmail, Outlook or any IMAP provider, free, in the background. Your old account is never touched.

Is this end-to-end encrypted like Proton?

No, and we won't pretend otherwise. This is standard, portable email (TLS in transit, EU jurisdiction at rest). If your threat model needs E2E mailboxes, Proton is a fine choice — if it needs European ownership, open standards and no lock-in, that's us.

What does it cost?

Free to start (1 mailbox, 1 GB). Paid plans from €13/year with more storage and mailboxes — priced per year for the account, not per user per month.

Can I use my own domain?

Yes. The first domain is a one-time 199 DKK / $29 USD / €27 EUR and includes one year of Starter. See custom-domain email with European hosting.

Who is behind postsky.eu?

Garbæk IT, a Danish company (CVR 21 66 44 80), operating the skyen.live platform — email, calendar, contacts and Bluesky identity under one roof.
